CREMILK is located in Kappeln an der Schlei in northern Schleswig-Holstein. In this idyllic setting, we have predominantly spent the last century specializing in the spray-drying of high-quality dairy products, including baby milk formula, nutrition drinks and supplements, and milk-based creamer. Our products are easily soluble and are available in conventional and organic options. CREMILK carefully monitors the entire production chain, from our milk suppliers right through to production and packaging. We buy our milk mainly from nearby farms on the North Sea and Baltic Sea coasts. Our farmers can depend on long-term, exclusive contracts with CREMILK. In turn, this guarantees us sustainability and the very best milk quality for our premium products.
Freshness every day for 100 years
With its endless lush meadows and fresh maritime climate, the north of Germany has always been known for all the wonderful things that can be made from milk. The perfect place, then, to establish the first milk-drying plant in 1918 on the site in Kappeln an der Schlei that is now home to CREMILK.
In 1928, Nestlé began operating here, making the plant an important location for the production of dried milk. Condensed milk was first produced here in 1929, followed by baby milk formula in 1942. In 1943, the site produced the first instant coffee in Germany.
Since the 1950s, the factory in Kappeln has expanded to become the largest manufacturer of baby milk formula in Europe. The business took the name CREMILK in 1999 and became part of the CAFEA Group. We continue to be pioneers in new types of product: the first baby milk formula, the first instant coffee and the first instant cappuccino were all produced in Kappeln.
More than milk – the diverse CAFEA Group
The strong network of the CAFEA Group means that our customers can access the full spectrum of instant coffees and coffee drinks – if the CREMILK range doesn’t include something, our sister companies are sure to cover any gaps.
The international CAFEA Group includes seven production companies in Europe. CREMILK is the specialist for developing, producing and distributing baby milk formula and dietary foods. Coffee products are sold centrally through DEUTSCHE EXTRAKT KAFFEE in Hamburg. There are separate distribution companies for the UK, the USA and Poland: FINE FOODS INTERNATIONAL Ltd. (GB), FINE FOODS INTERNATIONAL N.Y. LP (USA) and GRANA (PL). WERTFORM GmbH is our specialist distribution partner for products in the organic and fair trade segment.
For us, tradition is the opposite of standing still. As product pioneers, we are always forging new paths.
